View Sumner County Court Calendar

Start with the court named on your citation, notice, or case record. That one detail points the way. The Sumner County court calendar is not a single master list; it is a set of separate schedules built around each court, judge, and date. Circuit, Criminal, General Sessions, Chancery, Probate, Juvenile, and municipal matters each run through their own calendar channels. Before you rely on any setting, make sure the docket entry, the posted daily calendar, and the clerk's confirmation all agree. Even then, leave room for a later order, a reset, or a cancellation. A careful docket search confirms the right court, the hearing type, and the latest date.

The Sumner County Court Calendar

The official court site posts separate date lists for Circuit, Criminal, and General Sessions matters. Each PDF docket groups cases by hearing date, court, judge, and setting type. A page headed “Civil Court Docket” or “Criminal Court Docket” shows one day's call. It is not a complete case register. And an old indexed PDF cannot prove the setting still stands.

Chancery and Probate work through the Clerk and Master docket page. Scheduling contacts for each judge handle the rest. City courts keep their own traffic and ordinance dates. Identify the court first. Then compare the newest case entry, the calendar PDF, any filed notice, and what the clerk confirms. That order keeps a Circuit motion date from being confused with a General Sessions collection call or a municipal citation date.

Sumner County PDF Calendar

Want a quick public view of a scheduled docket call? The daily PDF is the fastest route. The General Sessions calendar page also lays out the county's weekly pattern. Monday lists can carry probation, private prosecution, and driving-status matters. Tuesday leans toward driving offenses and orders of protection. Drug offenses, domestic assault, and protection matters land on Wednesday. Thursday handles civil and collection work. Friday brings TWRA and State Trooper tickets. The official General Sessions page shows how those calendar families are separated:

That view helps you guess the right day and docket type. Still, the case entry or the clerk controls the actual setting.

How to Find Your Court Date

Start with the court and case number on your citation, summons, notice, or filed order. Sumner County has several clerks, so a name search alone covers only part of the ground. Use every channel that fits the case:

  1. Read the newest citation, notice, or order for the stated date and court.
  2. Search the Sumner online court records system for Circuit or General Sessions case information.
  3. Open the newest date-specific PDF on the Circuit, Criminal, or General Sessions page and match the court, number, judge, and hearing type.
  4. For Chancery or Probate, check the Clerk and Master schedule and its civil, domestic, or probate contact instructions.
  5. Call 615-452-4367: extension 2 for General Sessions criminal or traffic, 3 for General Sessions civil, 4 for Circuit civil, 5 for Criminal, or 6 for Juvenile. Chancery civil uses 615-452-4282, and Probate uses 615-451-6036.
  6. If web access fails, ask the clerk counter about the public-access terminal or posted docket. A party’s lawyer may also confirm a filed setting.

Tennessee offers no statewide lower-court calendar for Sumner County. The Tennessee Public Case History system covers appeals, not ordinary local trial settings. A municipal ticket may sit only in its city system, outside the county portal entirely.

Sumner County Judge Calendars

Circuit civil dates run judge by judge. Published instructions set Judge Thompson's short motions two ways. Zoom starts at 8:00 a.m. In person, they begin at 8:30 a.m. Contested motions generally fall on published Mondays. Expected testimony pushes the time to 9:00 a.m. Otherwise the hour is 1:00 p.m. Judge Nichols' pattern lists Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. and Fridays at 8:30 a.m. The Circuit Court schedule source shows local calendar categories and motion rules:

Patterns explain the docket. They do not fix the hearing. Only a case-specific order does that. A contested case expected to run past an hour needs a Certificate of Readiness signed by every attorney. Once filed, the judge's assistant offers dates and the court files a trial-setting order. If counsel will not all sign, the requesting party must seek an order through a motion.

Reading a Court Setting

A Sumner County court setting carries more than a date. The heading names the court and tells you whether the list is civil or criminal. Each case line ties a formatted number and caption to a judge and a hearing type. Notes sometimes appear too. Match every field before treating two similar names as one case.

DateThe hearing date on that PDF or filed setting. A later order can replace it.
TimeThe docket call or hearing time, including separate motion or collection sessions.
CourtroomThe room or venue tied to that court. Confirm it when the PDF does not state it.
JudgeThe officer assigned to that calendar entry, not proof of who handled every event.
Setting TypeMotion, Civil Hearing, Collection Docket, Pre Trial Conference, Trial Jury, or Settlement.

Lists can also show attorney or pro se lines, hearing notes, criminal counts, and a “Cont’d” marker. The PDFs download easily. They do not link each setting to a pleading or signed order.

Sumner County Setting Terms

Local labels explain why a matter sits on the Sumner County court calendar. They never announce the outcome. Read each label with its notes and later docket events.

Collection Docket
A General Sessions collection setting. Published 2026 settings use a 1:00 p.m. call.
Motion Rule 41
A motion or review tied to dismissal-for-want-of-prosecution practice.
Pre Trial Conference
A preparation and scheduling event before trial, not the trial itself.
Divorce ID
An uncontested divorce identification or finalization setting on Circuit civil lists.
Cont’d
The entry continues elsewhere or to another date. Find the later entry and order.

A General Sessions collection filer must pick a date at least four weeks out and include all required filing and service items. Skip those steps and the filing can come back returned. Assuming a Thursday slot is simply not enough.

Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations

A private agreement alone does not continue a Sumner County jury or non-jury case. Local rules demand court permission. Good cause must be raised as soon as practical. The court may also assess costs tied to a continuance. A motion reset needs agreement or approval plus an order filed within five days.

An old PDF can linger online after a case moves. “Cont’d” may point to the next page or a later setting, while the current case record and order carry the operative date. Trial dates can be lost. That happens when a setting order is not filed on time. When two sources conflict, call the assigned division rather than trusting whichever page looks newer.

Municipal rules differ. Hendersonville wants a change request at least one week before court. Gallatin routes rescheduling through its court. White House sends date problems to its clerk. Portland tells anyone with a conflict to call the clerk.

Sumner County Chancery Calendar

Chancery and Probate hearings in Sumner County do not sit in the county trial search. They are not one shared name calendar. Each judge runs a set pattern. Judge Oliver hears civil and domestic motions on Mondays, usually at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. Probate motions come on Tuesdays. Judge Nichols handles Chancery matters on Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. Fridays run at 1:30 p.m. A published schedule takes hold October 1, 2026, so confirm which calendar governs your date before you rely on the old one. The official Chancery source lays out its own motion, trial, Zoom, and Probate instructions.

Sumner County court calendar instructions for Chancery and Probate

For Zoom matters, file a working email at least two business days before the hearing. Lacking a camera, microphone, or speaker means filing a statement along with a phone number. Probate stays in person unless the Chancellor grants permission in advance. None of this tells you a hearing was granted. It only covers how to attend one.

Confirm a Sumner County Reset

Suppose the PDF, the portal entry, and the notice all disagree. Write down the court and the full case number. Note the judge, the old date, the new date, and the type of setting. Then call the division that owns the docket record. Ask whether a later order reset or canceled the hearing. Ask where the current setting appears. Staff can route you, but they cannot tell you which motion to file.

For Circuit civil, extension 4 is the focused line. General Sessions civil uses extension 3. Criminal and traffic use extension 2, and Criminal Court uses extension 5. Clerk and Master matters go through the separate Chancery or Probate number. Calling the right division beats a generic call. Sumner County splits its calendars and clerks by court.

Keep the filed notice or current PDF and recheck it near the hearing. The related Sumner County case search can pull up the matching record. Run it before the calendar check.

What To Do If You Miss a Setting

Call the assigned clerk division right away, and call any attorney on the case. Have the case number, court, scheduled date, and hearing type ready. Ask what the public docket now shows. Ask whether a new setting or order has been entered. A paid fee does not cure a missed appearance. Neither does a left message or a missing PDF.

Missed a setting? A missed date may lead to a failure-to-appear entry, warrant, bond action, default, dismissal, or another response based on the case.

Call the proper Sumner County clerk division promptly and ask how to confirm the current docket status.

Legal advice about correcting a missed setting should come from a Tennessee-licensed attorney.

A new setting does not erase the missed call. Get the new order or entry, note any deadline, and confirm where and how you must appear. For a city citation, go to that city court; do not assume General Sessions can reset it.
